Thank You, FOX News, For Posting Pro-Paul Statements--I MEAN That!

Even though FOX News has a transparent vendetta against Ron Paul, which came out in tonight's debate in especial hostility (because they were not succeeding in efforts to turn Paul's positions into straw men?), which was packed into most of the questions aimed at Ron Paul, I, nevertheless, want to THANK Fox News for TRYING to live up to their "Fair and Balanced" pledge, at least by posting some of the PRO-Paul comments sent in by viewers following the debate!

Here are a few that I took directly off of the FOX News web site:

"I sincerely believe that Congressman Ron Paul won the debate tonight. Since World War II the United States has not declared a war and since that time we have also not won a war. The idea that we can even "win" the war in Iraq is ridiculous because we never declared who it was against or what it was for." — Luke (Florida)

"Love Huckabee...but Ron Paul represents the 1776 Gentleman Farmer - a man of common sense who loves this country. I'm changing my support to Ron Paul." — Fred (Dacula, GA)

"I feel that Ron Paul won this debate. He continues to stick to his principles and, in my opinion, gives the most honest responses. I felt that the the "frontrunners" — Romney, McCain, and especially Giuliani - avoided answering several questions truthfully and completely. The decision of who I will vote for is between Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee, with me leaning towards Ron Paul." — Brian (Crossville, TN)

"Thanks for airing this debate. Ron Paul sure blew the doors off that place!" — Christian

Thank You!

Though it is only in line with FAIR journalism—and thus should be EXPECTED—to include some of the positive comments of ALL those who write in with their version of events, I nevertheless had NOT been expecting this from FOX, based on their track record of trying to bury everything Ron Paul.

I applaud tonight's effort, however slight.  Now, I only HOPE that we might see more of this same broad and open news policy, for truly newsworthy reporting about ANY of the candidates, no matter how much their positions might irk FOX executives (or Sean)!

I post a CHALLENGE to FOX!  If you REALLY believe that Ron Paul's ideas are so very nutty—a house of straw—then why not publicize it broadly, so that those NUTTY ideas will fall on their own merits in the huffing and puffing of the public forum, rather than continuing your effort at suppression of ideas, which only gets played out in the secret sweat-shop atmosphere of your boardroom policy meetings!  I appeal to your sense of decency as journalists, to resist the corporate temptation to manipulate national elections, a process that taken to its conclusion, creates fascism; leaving a shell of a country that is controlled by corporate puppet masters, who in turn, try to manipulate the people.

If Ron Paul demonstrated any ONE thing tonight, it was that he really DOES deserve more attention from you, if ONLY for the fact that he is the ONLY anti-war candidate now running for the Republican nomination!  That in itself, is a journalistic story worth VOLUMES of copy, and weeks (even months) of air time!
