Glenn Beck the Libertarian, Ann Coulter the Paulite???
I am flabbergasted. I just got done watching Glenn Beck do a segment on his CNN Headline News show, which he called "The Ron Paul Effect"! In this surprise segment, Beck actually praised many of Ron Paul's positions, pointing out how attractive these positions ARE to him, and to others harboring a libertarian mindset! Who would have KNOWN??? After all of Glenn Beck's postured defense of everything Neocon, where is this coming from??? It is coming, I believe, from a deep-rooted frustration with the lack of REAL conservative candidates in the '08 Republican lineup! Real conservatives have ALWAYS had a libertarian streak, but the Neocons have tried to murder this better half of their beast (the elephant), to the point where they have now succeeded in alienating EVEN THEIR BASE! Soon they won't have even a leg to stand on, and a whole lot of porked elephant is gonna come crashing down!
Beck did, however, agree with one of his guests, in naively describing Ron Paul as simply another "spoiler", for whom a vote would be "wasted", in his too hasty opinion. He somewhat rashly compared Paul to Ross Perot. The difference, in REAL LIFE, couldn't be more stark (and I'm not just referring to the ears)! Ross Perot had money (Ron Paul depends on donors), but he didn't have even a FRACTION of the real passion and human base Ron Paul has! Paul is striking a much DEEPER chord in the collective American psyche, wherever he is allowed any sort of a REAL HEARING! I guarantee you, that if news channels started playing the best Ron Paul speeches over the airwaves, Paul would be one of the top candidates before you could say, "Giuliani likes to wear drag!" Glenn, you couldn't be MORE right, about the surprising appeal of Ron Paul's libertarian message in this election cycle, and you couldn't be more WRONG about Paul's chances!

In the same evening of flipping through news channels, I also watched Bill O'Reilly flailing about without even his USUAL fake persona of see-through plastic dignity, because he seems to be feeling the strong reverberations of a loud and growing cry throughout America, for a return to civil liberties—a call for us to swear off all torture, to stop invading privacy without credible and constitutional judicial warrants, to return to our American principles as outlined in the Bill of Rights! In Bill's flustered state, he told a blatant lie on the air, tonight, when he asserted that all the people reporting that our government is committing these constitutional violations, are ALL JUST MAKING IT UP, and that they are spreading phony propaganda! Wow! Is Bill delusional??? Here, we have Bill O'Reilly denying the very things that Bush lawyers and mouthpieces are admitting to, and actually DEFENDING, in highly publicized court cases, in internal memos, in prominent interviews, and before congressional hearings! Things, that they are NOT ONLY DEFENDING, BUT THAT THEY ARE PUSHING TO MAKE LEGAL!—things, that are being attested to by none other than FOX News senior judicial analyst, The Judge, Andrew Napolitano—things, that Bill O'Reilly, himself, has been defending (as if they were really happening) for a LONG LONG time!
Where did this sudden trip to a river in Egypt (de Nile) come from??? It came, I think, because O'Reilly finally sees that Americans are WAKING UP, to the absolute wretched condition that our civil liberties have gotten into! They are waking up, to the destruction of our foundational principles as outlined in our constitution! Bill is afraid, VERY afraid! Afraid of WHAT??? He's afraid of losing the MOST POWERFUL "FACTOR", which has given him such intense sway over his audience for many years now: The FEAR Factor!
I challenge all of you who are reading this article, to write Bill a letter, and in it to challenge HIM, to bring on "The Judge", Andrew Napolitano, to his show, for an extra long segment where he can test out his legal theory—where he can attempt to pull the same wool over "The Judge's" eyes, that he tried to pull over his audience, tonight.
SELL THE JUDGE, why don't you, Bill, exactly the same propaganda that you tried to sell your viewers! Are you
MAN enough? (That's how Bill tried to taunt a government critic into appearing on his show) See if Napolitano will allow you to get away with the same ludicrous assertion, that there really are no constitutional violations going on! Napolitano is a REAL AMERICAN HERO: he defends and upholds the constitution! You, on the other hand, have made it clear, that you believe the constitution needs to be CHANGED! I guess LIBERTY was just a fad???
O'Reilly's ire, believe it or not, is a GOOD sign for Ron Paul's essential message! The message of liberty is penetrating to such a depth, now, that it has flustered Bill into a rare resort to rank propaganda, which is only one step down from his more common, more misleading and more dangerous form: sinister propaganda.
I saw yet ONE MORE GOOD SIGN tonight, coming from the ultimate of Neocon heros, speaking on the ultimate of Neocon media outlets, to the ultimate poster child of the Neocon movement! I saw none other than Ann Coulter, herself, visibly disturbed, complaining vehemently to Sean Hannity, that she didn't know if she could BEAR, having to defend the likes of Rudy Giuliani for the next year and a half! She let out something of a small tirade against the multitudinous NON-conservative positions held by all of the leading Republican candidates, while Sean tried his best to calm her conservative core from having a libertarian meltdown! Because, with the exception of the war, that is where her comments seemed to be tending! It seemed like all of the positions she found WANTING in the leading candidates, were the VERY POSITIONS Ron Paul is championing! From gun rights, to taxes, to abortion, she sounded for all the world, like a Ron Paul protest vote in the making!
Far fetched??? Stranger things have happened in the world of politics! And the current bunch of Republicans are certainly on the strange side, for Republicans, historically! Can you just imagine, if Ann Coulter and Bill Mahr—for far-flung reasons—ended up endorsing the VERY SAME candidate???
The frustration is palpable, the field is WIDE OPEN! Run with it, Paul, run with it!

Thank you for the article. Ron Paul is a statesman of the caliber we will likely not see again. He truly is of Thomas Jefferson metal.
Whether one accepts his message or not, he clearly dominates the debates, not with trickery, but with solid reasoning. Loud and clear with heart felt conviction inspired by the our Constitution, his conclusions are compelling. The values and ideas that made this nation great, and is emulated by the rest of world are embodied in Ron Paul.
We can only ignore the man and message by shirking our responsibility for ourselves, in an arrogant and ignorant attempt to justify our complacency in face of the truth we deep down understand, and take to shouting that we are damn sure that the King is wearing his clothes. Pretending that an extravagant lifestyle akin to the roaring 20's has no cost and no end, the fact that our line of credit, personal and national is nearly tapped, our egos desires is insatiable, causing us to repudiate and kill the man and his message. As "perception is reality", we recognize that if we acknowledge the truth of the matter it could be come reality, so the machine which blows smoke and uses mirrors kicks into high gear to make Ron Paul non-existent. Fortunately, only the fools with the fallacy panic, while the those in the trenches understand that there is so much wrong with our Nation, and with their Thomas Jefferson, strong men and women emerge in support of the message of Freedom and the wisdom of the Constitution.
I whole heartedly believe if given a fair chance of being heard, he could satisfy a thinking audience's concerns, and take the Presidency. This is why the Establishment, and it's media is scared, and works hard at shutting him out, and this why the 'people's' media of the Internet is on fire with support. Even if we wanted some the services of Federal government Ron Paul would like to dump, it won't long before we could not afford them anyway. IMHO, it's best to head in that direction now. He is a sensible and humble man, and understands a change in attitudes is necessary, and that comprise and transition are essential. This 'revolution' would actually be an 'evolution', an attempt to adapt before we perish.
