Paul, On the Proper Propagation of Virtue & Thoughts on FEAR
Have you listened to Dr. No's closing statement at the Value Voters Debate?
I thought it would be good for all of us to go back and watch/listen to Ron Paul's closing statement, which he delivered at the Values Debate, in order to remember the insight of where we should look, for the proper propagation of virtue. One of the GRAVEST DANGERS to our liberty, right now, is a push by legislators and Neocon pundits, to SCARE our populous into giving away our sacred rights, one way or another, in order to combat some perceived moral slippage in this country.
BEWARE!
Looking to the government to FORCE virtue, is one of the most direct roads to TYRANNY, AND to an increase in "blow back" both internationally, AS WELL AS at home! Paul has said a lot about the international blow back stemming from our inappropriate meddlings in foreign lands, but there is also another form of blow back, which happens right here at home, which is the unintended consequence of attempted social engineering. The classic example of this, was the formation of the mob, and the radical spread of a new phenomenon of organized crime, in response to our country having unadvisedly enacted a thing called prohibition!
Social engineering ALWAYS starts out—as did prohibition—with a public relations blitz. PROTECT SECURITY, PROTECT THE FAMILY, PROTECT THE CHILDREN! And this deceptive rhetoric, is then swallowed up by well-meaning concerned citizens! Who WOULDN'T want to protect CHILDREN, (unless, of course, they are IRAQI or IRANIAN children, in whose case we assuage our consciences by labeling them "collateral damage"), after all??? This MOST devious form of propaganda, is calculated to move UNSUSPECTING—usually LIBERTY-LOVING—Americans, to make repeated "EXCEPTIONS" to liberty, privacy and autonomy, for the sake of "the children"! These ever-increasing exceptions accumulate, then multiply, then become the MEANS, to finally overthrowing our very notion of "rights" and "freedoms" WHOLESALE! There is some kind of unbalanced focusing that takes place throughout society, on the very rarest examples, of the most extreme cases, relating to some taboo behavior, which the so-called "deciders" have secretly decided the government should control. The reason they must be underhanded about it, however, is that according to our constitution, WE, THE PEOPLE, are the legal "deciders", so they know that they MUST manipulate our sentiments in order to bring our guards down, by fomenting a deceptively unbalanced media focus, on strategic issues, calculated to grab at the heart-strings, in order to hijack our best motives for their sinister service.
The evils of drunkenness—which ARE real—were the specific focus, which led us into the disaster of prohibition. The consequences, however, of this famous attempt by the state to legislate VIRTUE, had all kinds of unintended evil results, which we have not been able to fully live down or reverse in nearly 100 years!
The so-called "war on drugs"—an UNWINNABLE "WAR"—has had the SAME results! The so-called war has only CREATED the gangs who menace our streets, it CREATED the violence, the inner city brutality, and the fatherless children, whose daddies are locked up or dead! It INSPIRED modern police brutality and militaristic tactics such as SWAT, and it has made for a nation of "liberty", which actually has the highest percentage of its own citizens imprisoned, of ANY NATION IN THE WORLD!
This should all be a warning to us, of the evils, which are on the horizon, as Neocons and other elites have been positioning our nation for another vast experiment in social engineering (which will extend even into the realm of religious liberty), and they whip up our society's fears, unreasonably, in attempts to get "we, the people" to voluntarily lay down our rights, in order to combat so-called "GRAVE DANGERS." They whip up the fear of terror, out of proportion, of sex crimes, out of proportion, of LEGAL gun ownership, out of proportion, of illegal aliens, out of proportion, of drugs and prostitution, out of proportion, of the nuclear threat, out of proportion, and they hijack the word "patriot" to demonize all political dissent! Beware of ANYTHING THEY DO to whip you up into an emotional frenzy over some anxious issue! Because it is all a PLOY, to remove your rights and liberties! Even the obvious desire by certain political strategists, for a never-ending war, can be viewed as a PRETENSE for abridging your rights, your privacy and your basic liberty!
