Dear Dr. Paul, I'm Voting For You NO MATTER WHAT!
Dear Dr. Paul,
I know that I am not alone in my sentiment, that you are the ONLY candidate out there, in this election cycle, for whom I could or WOULD vote, in good conscience.
In fact, before I was introduced to you this summer, by a couple of local unsung political heros in my 'red' state (NE), Mari and Jed, fighting against ludicrous odds, manning a lonely, underfunded table at a county fair, I had already come to the conclusion that I COULD not vote for any of the candidates I'd heard about through the news media. I was cynical, and it was in this cynical spirit I had approached the humble table emblazoned with a home-made sign proclaiming, HOPE FOR AMERICA.
"So, why do you have hope for America?", I asked, half expecting Mari and Jed to go on and on about how terrifying the world is, how we need a president who will promise to take KINGLY measures to ensure 'homeland security' in a 'post-911 world'. I half expected them to go on and on about how all the 'pinheads' in our country, who always 'blame America first' and want to 'cut and run' from our imperial conquests for 'freedom', are tying up and frustrating the BENEVOLENT hands of our most 'harmonious' 'people's' government—run ONLY by 'patriots'—so that they can't track, monitor, censor and listen in on all the 'bad guys'' communications (mostly just suspects in the eternal 'war on drugs', or any of a hundred other internal virtue 'wars'—attempts at social engineering by force) without warrants (using secret big brother rooms, installed by Goliath corporations such as AT&T). Or, I half expected Jed and Mari to go on about how the 'pinheads' are slowing down NOBLE government efforts of 'young professionals' to keep us safe by torturing, and by imprisoning the 'bad guys' (always PRESUMED GUILTY) indefinitely, without habeas corpus, based on secret evidence, which evidence (of government violations of its own constitution) is protected by 'state secrets' (so the government can violate its own laws, and get away with it). Or, if they didn't come right out and SAY these kinds of things, I half expected them to at least spew OTHER tired, but popular, old EUPHEMISMS, which in reality amount to exactly what I just said.
There was no way that I could be certain which party Jed and Mari represented, before I had approached them. So I say that I "HALF EXPECTED", because the OTHER half of me, expected there might be a SLIM chance (in our 'reddest of the red' state) that Mari and Jed MIGHT sympathize with my concerns over the wholesale destruction of human rights and civil liberties. But I knew that IF they even cared about civil liberties, chances were, that they would then throw out their OWN euphemism, 'CHOICE', in order to promote the heinous legalized slaughter—murder—of little children (the sick rationale goes something like this: "We brought them into the world; we can take them out!") and to ensure that our 'harmonious' 'people's' government will, not only keep legal, but promote and FUND in uterine INFANTICIDE through the United Nations, in order to ensure 'population control' around the world.
I had nearly concluded in my own mind, that there was NO CANDIDATE 'OUT THERE', who cared equally about both LIFE AND LIBERTY—my two BIG issues—at the SAME TIME! I had just LEFT the Republican party, become INDEPENDENT, and I had just finished putting LIBERTARIANS FOR LIFE bumper stickers on our two cars. I had determined to NEVER get caught up, again, in EITHER of the two big-government, ideological, control-freak behemoths we call "parties".
And what did I end up doing, within just weeks of my encounter with Jed and Mari? I ended up mailing in the party change form, which they had handed to me, in order to RETURN TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. I had to have a GOOD reason to make such a move!
Dr. Paul, YOU were my reason. YOU were the ONLY candidate for whom my conscience would allow me to vote! On the largest, sweeping issues of our time (which contrary to popular belief, and mainstream media propaganda, are NOT the so-called 'war on terror' and the various virtue wars, but are actually the graver threats emanating from the reactionary wars against life and liberty), I found you to be RIGHT ON! No, like MANY of your followers, I have not now morphed my entire world view into the minutia of YOUR mind, but then I DON'T THINK YOU WOULD WANT US TO! Your whole point, as I understand it, is to restore INDIVIDUAL liberty, INDIVIDUAL freedom, INDIVIDUAL thought, and to get the meddling government OUT OF OUR BUSINESS and into their proper business of limiting (checking) their own tyranny, and the 'tyranny of the majority'!
For THIS reason, for the reason of your fight for LIFE and LIBERTY, as well as for the reason that I perceive you to be an immanently decent, compassionate person, I could not, would not, cannot, WILL NOT vote for ANYONE but you, in this election cycle! I am proud that you stood your ground, and your principles, when you refused to promise your support for WHATEVER Republican happens to get the party nomination! While I believe you CAN win the Republican nomination, I urge you to KEEP on running, regardless, one way or another, because THERE IS NO OTHER VIABLE CHOICE for TRULY constitutionally-principled voters to choose from in this election cycle!
Dr. Paul, I'm voting for you NO MATTER WHAT! If I have to, I will write you in, and I know I am NOT ALONE.
(I urge others to make a similar pledge. It is the insidious in vogue practice of our legislators NOT voting their consciences, but instead going along with consensus party deals, which has allowed evil to so triumph in our government during the last six years. We must stand up against the related practice in our own realm, of voting for an evil, even if we consider it to be a LESSER evil (it is still evil), because this practice is what actually keeps EVERYONE from voting for a true GOOD! I am FULLY CONVINCED now, from listening to average people, that if EVERYONE in this country votes their conscience, Ron Paul WILL be the next president of the United States!)

I read your whole blog entry, and you make some good points, BUT...
...I DO sometimes endorse choosing the lesser of two evils, WHEN that is ALL there is possible. Even GOD has to choose between the lesser of two evils! BUT it is the FATAL MISTAKE, should it be made in this election! There IS a true good, and ONLY IF WE BELIEVE HE CAN'T WIN, and "throw away" our vote on a perceived "lesser evil" will the SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY COME TRUE!
America is RIPE for Ron Paul--Democrat, Republican AND Independents of MANY stripes! Like I said, Paul WILL WIN this time, if EVERYONE votes their conscience! That is why I am convicted that WE MUST HOLD OUR GROUND, ABSOLUTELY. This election is such, that in THIS cycle, BELIEVING PAUL CAN WIN, will ALSO BECOME a SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY! BELIEVE IT!
And on the issue of which is worse, a Neocon Republican or a Democrat, it is debatable, but I fear MORE the liberty and privacy undermining on the Neocon side, than even purely fiscal Socialism (though I don't want EITHER). Why? Because it undercuts the very FABRIC of liberty, and sends us back to the VERY KIND OF TYRANNY which led our founding fathers--out of personal experience--to break from King George, in the FIRST PLACE!!!
How ironic, if it proves to be that we fulfil the prophetic lamb beginning to speak like the Dragon, through the instrumentalities of ANOTHER "Kingly" George!
