The Stopping Game

Just an observation:

All of us do it...

...when we are worried about our vehicles speeding out of control down a steep mountain road.  I did it many times while driving recently.

What did I do?

I used selective braking; not to STOP my vehicle, but to keep it at MY desired speed—to hold it back.

Here's how it works:

I find that as I begin to descend on a steep grade, my car wants to accelerate rapidly.  This WORRIES me, as my speedometer begins to approach speeds that someone somewhere has determined to be out-of-bounds.  I then slam on the brakes, but not to STOP the car.  NO, NO!  Just to keep it under MY control.  I bring it significantly UNDER the speed determined by someone somewhere to be acceptable.   I hold the brakes until acceleration is momentarily reversed, until the little red needle—my poll—points to a number safely within a range I consider harmless.  My anxiety over the out-of-my-control acceleration eases, and I feel comfortable, once more, to allow the car a LITTLE bit of leeway to do what it wants to do—just a LITTLE.

As I've observed the on again, off again, manner in which the media has chosen to cover the Ron Paul rEVOLution since this last summer, when his message of liberty began really gaining momentum, I've come to the conclusion that the corrupt media has been, all along, playing a stopping game with Ron Paul 2008.  They have been treating the Ron Paul campaign like a vehicle accelerating out-of-THEIR-control.  Any time the rEVOLution's momentum accelerates, they become very worried, and through back room memos get the message out, that it is time to brake for a while.  While they're braking, we Paulites go nuts accusing them of undemocratic suppression and manipulation of the election coverage.  They can't have THAT accusation stick to them, either, because it will demonstrate just how much they have turned into a gang of organized criminals, subverting the democratic process.  So they HAVE to make a showing now and then, even of the Ron Paul campaign.

They are very much in a situation like a driver going down a steep hillside.  They don't want to STOP the vehicle (Ron Paul 2008)—that would expose their criminality—but at the same time, they don't want to allow the vehicle (Ron Paul 2008) to accelerate beyond the "SAFE" limit set by their corporate crime bosses, giving orders from the sweathouse!  Their only choice is the stopping game:

The stopping game involves just enough braking to slow the vehicle (R.P.'08) down below the "DANGEROUS" speed ranges, then to make a BIG SHOW of how unjust the accusations against them are, as they temporarily remove their collective foot from the brakes, allowing the vehicle (R.P.'08) once more to accelerate a LITTLE—JUST a little...

...Until that easing of the brakes, and the resultant acceleration again causes enough anxiety in the sweathouse, that brakes MUST be applied, or else risk the campaign...er...um...I mean the vehicle, getting out of THEIR control!

I recall many headlines written by anti-Paul minions touting their supposed coverage of Paul, in the face of Paulite accusations, based on the braking times.  One headline said, "Here We Go Again, Not Ignoring Ron Paul".  Bologna!  How about some Consistent not ignoring of Ron Paul?  But they CAN'T allow THAT!  It would allow Ron Paul to accelerate DANGEROUSLY close to winning the primaries and the election!  MUST KEEP HIM UNDER CONTROL!  MUST KEEP HIM UNDER CONTROL!!  MUST KEEP HIM UNDER CONTROL!!!

This,
I believes, explains why FOX News was SO obstinate about not allowing Ron Paul into the Jan. 6 forum BEFORE the first primaries had even taken place, but then they allowed Paul back into their next debate, in which he once more won their own texting poll with a whopping 35%—a 35% which made Sean Hannity say, "Here we go again", meaning, "BRAKES!  BRAKES! SOMEBODY APPLY SOME BRAKES!"

Are YOU comfortable with allowing corporate media to CHOOSE the president FOR US in our now so-called democracy?
